Comunità Islamica di Roma

Our identity

One network, one voice, a shared responsibility

The Islamic Community of Rome (CIR) was born from the meeting of young people, families, and leaders of centers and associations. We join forces to give a voice to Muslims in the capital, defend their rights, and build, together with the entire city, a more just, peaceful, and respectful coexistence.

Today, we represent 22 Islamic associations active throughout Rome—a number that is constantly growing. We are neither a temporary project nor a symbolic initiative: we are an organized structure, a solid network, and a unified voice.

  • A network of associations pooling experiences, energy, and expertise.
  • A coordination body that transforms collaboration into shared responsibility.
  • A representation that gives Muslims in Rome a credible and recognizable voice.
  • A commitment to countering Islamophobia with intelligence and firmness.
  • A conscious Islam, in open dialogue with institutions, schools, and citizens.
  • Events and social projects at the service of the community and the entire city.

Our values

Faith that becomes action

For us, Islam is light and responsibility. Prayer, the Quran, and spirituality drive us to care for the people and places we live in. Our faith must leave tangible signs of goodness, not just words.

Unity without erasing differences

We come from different backgrounds, cultures, and life paths. We do not want to erase this plurality; we want to coordinate it. Within CIR, everyone brings their own contribution, but we are all rowing in the same direction.

Service to the community and the city

We were born from the Muslim community, but our vision is broader. We want to be of service to our Muslim brothers and sisters while simultaneously being a positive presence for all of Rome.

Clear dialogue and standing tall

We speak with institutions, media, schools, and associations with respect, but also with dignity. We do not seek privileges: we demand justice, recognition, and genuine spaces for dialogue, without hiding who we are.

Our story

  1. Spring 2025

A clear demand grows within the Muslim community of Rome: there is a need for greater unity, coordination, and representation. The organizations exist and the work is being done, but a shared voice is missing.

  2. Summer 2025

Determined young people and leaders of centers and associations begin to meet regularly: how to build a coordination body that represents shared responsibility, rather than just a name?

  3. Summer 2025

The community joins forces to organize a major demonstration for Palestine. Previously separate entities choose to stand shoulder to shoulder: proof that the Islamic community of Rome can work in unity.

  4. September 29, 2025

Following numerous meetings and courageous choices, the decision is made to launch the CIR project. On January 8, CIR is officially established.
